Sorcha is a registered and endorsed clinical psychologist with experience across the public and private sectors. She uses established psychological approaches to help clients to improve their quality of life, achieve their therapy goals, and to live life to their full potential.
In her work she uses evidence based psychological approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to help the people she supports to live calmer, healthier and happier lives. She works collaboratively with clients to understand how a difficulty developed, and tailor the therapy approach to meet the individual’s needs.
Working with neurodiverse adults is a particular area of interest for Sorcha. She has experience on a team that diagnoses Autism in adults and supports them after their diagnosis. Sorcha also educates and adapts different therapy methods to help these clients
She can create personalised strategies to help people identify and manage intense emotions, and to lessen the negative effects of anxiety on the daily lives of people experiencing these difficulties.
Sorcha uses an adapted form of CBT to address anxiety and depression in adults with ADHD and a strengths-based approach to support them to have an optimal quality of life.
Over the course of her career, she has provided individual and group therapy to individuals presenting with a range of concerns, including, but not limited to, relationship difficulties, work stress, anxiety, depression, psychosis, borderline personality disorder (BPD) and other personality disorders.
Sorcha benefits from ongoing mentoring from senior psychologists to ensure the care she is providing is of the highest standard. She also attends several professional training events each year to develop her skills and knowledge in the most effective therapy approaches.
Sorcha truly enjoys her role as a clinical psychologist and has found working with clients, and implementing psychological strategies, has enriched her personal life. She strives to deliver therapy in a way that is genuine, warm and makes clients feel accepted and understood.
